Whatever it is, it certainly doesn't fit into any normal genre - it is a comedy game set in an extremely limited environment, and the entire purpose of the game is to explore said environment many, many times over. The Stanley Parable is one of those very strange things that one is almost reluctant to call a game, but which clearly isn't anything else.
